Greenfield racks up third loss
Of the three losses so far, this one may have hurt the most, as it was the one where even towards the end victory wasn’t improbable. After losing the toss and being asked to field the day started rough for Greenfield with both of Edmonton’s openers dropped early. Runs flowed freely as Edmonton reached 50 before the 10th over was bowled. Excellent bowling from Mohammed kept Edmonton in check and as breakthroughs were made, the runs began to dry up. Our fielding wasn’t up to scratch as Edmonton found it too easy to pierce the gaps for singles and two’s and despite bowling them out in the end a few missed chances came back to haunt us.
Our batting once again did not meet Greenfield’s normal standards. Extras and Rajeev batted through the innings with Extras again taking the top spot, and Rajeev coming in a close second. Rajeev batted patiently for his 37 as wickets fell steadily around him and although he and Karl (10) combined for Greenfield’s highest partnership of the season it was not to be as Karl departed and the last man in Somaiah did not get off the mark leaving Greenfield 60 runs short of victory.
As we reminisce on what could have and should have been Greenfield will most certainly be eager to pick up their first win on Sunday,
June 4th against Combined Schools. |
