A Win for Greenfield…...at last

We knew it was bound to happen and this time, we made sure it did..

Greenfield, after losing the toss was sent into field on a warm sunny day. The bowling, although effective was a bit more wayward than usual, sending down 54 extras-mostly wides- but still managed to get the job done along with good, though at times lackluster fielding. Kudos to Stuart and Simon, who both made their bowling debuts and bowled very well with Simon grabbing 2 wickets and Stuart undeservedly missing out.

The batting speaks for itself. Rajeev and Arvind opened and found their groove from the get go, putting on a batting clinic. They tore into the bowling, -which, apart from extras wasn’t bad at all, - with a plethora of magnificent shots thrilling those watching from the sidelines. Unfortunately, Arvind just 5 runs away from a well-deserved half century, ended up being the only wicket to fall, stumped, going for big hit. By then however, the outcome was clear and the final rites administered soon after Simon came in.

The third innings was the charm for Simon, coming in to bat with no runs to his name in the league; a delighted Simon scored his first runs to cheers from Greenfield and puzzled looks from the fielding team at the ensuing celebrations. A brilliant knock of 6 he scored, in which he pulled one for 4 and hit the winning runs to boot.

Overall, a great day with all faculties seemingly finding form to engineer a win and with the first Alberta Super League game coming up, it is hoped that the momentum from this win would carry over to that game as well. It can only get better from here on out for the Green and Gold…our next challenge? Winning a toss.
