Match
Report by Rahul Singh:
A MONSTER win yesterday saw Greenfield score 207 and bowl out the opposition for
137!
Yesterday's win was well-deserved and I am proud of you guys firstly for making
it possible for Greenfield to field a 11 yesterday and secondly to show the
commitment on the field. I am proud of you and each one of you should be proud
of yourself. We were hoping to give Edmonton (ECC) a good fight and make it an
interesting game but we came out winning the game. An amazing effort.
Thanks once again to Nilay for his team spirit. Jawaid and Syed gave us very
good support out in the field. Swaran bowled really well and we welcome him into
the team. Sunil Barran thanks for showing up for the game and contributing.
Infact it raised our confidence at the start of the game.
Sunil Bandaru although labeled as a "floater" has proved once again that he can
be an able opener. Congratulations on your 50 Sunil. That was a quick fire and
exciting innings from you. Especially the shots over cover and that one amazing
straight loft off the fast bowler. We did stutter after Sunil's wicket and we
were almost down and out at 90 odd runs with 7 wickets down. But then the
amazing partnership between Aruna and Alex showed not just our team but also our
opponents how a good temperament can bail us out in the tightest of situations.
Wow!! That was the best partnership I have seen in my 3 years of cricket at E&DCL.
Aruna you made 46. For the team that was a 50*. And Alex this is your second 50
of the season, keep up the form going mate!!! Your crisp fours over square and
mid wicket were glorious.
Our bowling was a bit off during the start but we fought back and that effort
paid off. Alex struck first to see Simon's back and that made some inroads to
expose the middle order. Syed your effort from the deep to run Nafiz out with a
direct hit was amazing. After that, Rahul's took four key wickets for 20 runs
with a brilliant spell of tidy left arm spin bowling. In fact, Rahul stopped the
flurry of runs and kept them in check which manufactured the wickets for us.
Alex and Bandaru took two very good high catches. Rajeev showed patience in his
captaincy and keeping. That was a brilliant stumping effort Rajeev. And Mike
took a stunning catch at slip to get Rohit out. Aruna was also successful in
getting Kaizer out. Haseeb as usual was relentless in the field changing over
from the infield to the outfield. Chitra and Arees were relentless from the
outside with their support.
So we now have our first win under our belt. Keep fighting. Also we displayed
good spirit in the field with minimal sledging and maximum cheering. Thanks once
again guys. We meet ECC once again in 2 weeks and they will be out full throttle
to get back at us. So lets be prepared. Which takes me to my next concern -
Practice. I request everyone to please make it to practice on Wednesday we still
need to work on our skills. I, for sure know I have to work on my batting and
catching :).
